Trace

CLEARANCE SALE
12"
Anglo-American
My name is Trace. I am an Anglo American boy. According to the most recent United States Census Report, there are more than 200 million Anglos in the United States. When I look at where my family came from, I have ancestors from England, Scotland, Germany and even a great great grandmother who was Native American. I guess I can say that I came from all over the world to be an American.
My mom calls me 'fair skinned' which means that I sunburn easily. I must wear sun block and sunscreen whenever I spend time outside. This will help my skin to be healthy for many years if I protect it from the sun.
My favorite activity is swimming. This summer I have asked for several swimsuits. I will wear them instead of shorts so that I will be ready to go swimming anytime and anywhere. I also like to skateboard and hang out with my friends. I play the trumpet in school.
I have one sister, a cat and a dog.

Reading Is Fundamental

"HI! My name is TRACE. About books - that's what you want to know - right? Well, my favorite book day at school was RIF day. There'd be ALL these books and I could search through them and find the one I wanted. No one told me which one to pick! My choice! I think everyone should have a RIF day!"

By purchasing Trace, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Reading Is Fundamental.

Gail

African-American
My name is Gail, and I am an African American girl.
According to the latest United States Census Report, there are more than 34 million African Americans in the United States.
African Americans are usually identified by our skin color. There are many shades of brown and black skin tones. I have one sister who has a lighter skin tone than I have, but her hair is wavier than mine. This makes us look different from one another, but we are the same because we are African American. We are both beautiful!
My family's history can be traced back to Africa. I am
lucky because my mom and aunt know a lot about Black history, and we celebrate our heritage. We talk about how lucky we are to live in a country that allows us many freedoms and the ability to make our own choices. It was not always like this in America, and people in other parts of the world still are not as free as we are. I am proud to be an African American.
I am a very good student. My mom says that schoolwork comes first, and then I can enjoy being with my friends. My favorite activity is dancing. Everyone tells me that I am really good at skipping rope too. I am practicing hard because I plan to be
in a jump rope competition this fall with my friends.

J-Mac Youth Center

"HI! My name is GAIL. Since my Mom has been working, I have stayed in the program at the J-Mac Youth Center. I started at the center when I was 3. Ms Lillian, she's the director, says that she is really strict! That's okay with me because she taught me to read before I started school! It is really fun to be at the J Mac Center with Ms Lillian and my friends. It's almost time for dinner. I'm here helping out today. Time to go wash my hands! "

By purchasing Gail, a portion of the proceeds will benefit J-Mac Youth Center.

Jesse

Hispanic-American
My name is Jesse. I am an Hispanic American boy. According to the latest United States Census Report, there are more than 35 million Hispanics or Latinos in the United States. Hispanic means 'of Spanish descent.' My grandparents came to the United States from Mexico. Many of my family members still speak Spanish. I can speak Spanish too, but I usually speak English to my friends at school.
My favorite activity is playing ball. I like soccer and baseball the most. I also like to be with my cousins on holidays. If we are having a celebration, someone will bring a piÃ’ata for us to hit and get the prizes. My father says that a pinata is a tradition of the Mexican family. I'm glad! It is great fun to have a blindfold on my eyes and to try to hit the pinata with a stick until the candy falls out. I am very strong and usually am the one that hits it hard enough for it to break open for all the younger kids to get the candy.
My favorite subject in school is math. I plan to go to college and learn about countries all around the world. Then, I'll travel and see them all.

Imagination Celebration Forth Worth

"HI! My name is Jesse. When I'm not playing sports, or studying for school, I love to paint and draw. The first real art class I took was when my school bus took us to the art workshops. We watched other people draw and dance. There was lots of fun music. I hope we get to do that every year!"

By purchasing Jesse, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Imagination Celebration Fort Worth.

Connie

CLEARANCE SALE

Asian-American
My name is Connie. I am an Asian American girl. According to the most recent United States Census Report, there are over 10 million Asians in the United States. Being Asian American means that my family's ancestors came from one of the countries on the continent of Asia. Some of these countries include China, Korea, Japan and Thailand.
One thing that people notice about me is the shape of my eyes. Instead of being round, they are more oval in shape. Many Asians have eyes the same shape as mine. I love my eyes, and they are very special because they are unique to me. My eyes see many wonderful things.
I have lived in several cities across the United States because my dad is in the military. That means he has a job that helps protect our country. If there is ever a war or crisis, my dad would help protect us and all of America. I think my dad is brave. We move around a lot. That's okay with me because I really like making new friends and having new adventures all over the United States.
I like to read and ride my bicycle. I also play the piano and sing every chance I get. I am learning a new song that I want to play for my aunt who is coming to visit all the way from China.
